Cakes are either standard or sculpted (carved into figures or shapes). Designs for these products focus on size, cake flavor, fillings and/or icings, and decorations. Decorations can be created in sugar paste (fondant and gum paste), modeling chocolate, or icing. Sculpted cakes may limit flavor options due to cake stability, but are great for creating large, life-like objects.
Cupcakes are perfect for individually sized desserts. Cake flavor options are limitless. Cupcakes may be filled with different flavors of icing, chocolate, candy, or berries. Designs for cupcakes may use frosting or chocolate ganache. Small decorations composed of chocolate, sugar paste, or icing may be placed on top.
Cake pops are condensed cake sculpted to the size of a lollipop. Their shape is usually circular, but can be altered based on desired theme. The chewy center is a combination of cake crumbs and icing. Small edibles such as candy, miniature cookie dough balls, or marshmallows may be placed inside. The cake ball is covered in chocolate and delivered on a stick.
